At the last stop in the Ukraine, before crossing the border to Belarus, there were locals waiting to meet the train to sell food. They were in good spirits and looked as though they'd gotten dressed up to come meet the train.
The man in the blue jacket is holding sticks strung with cherries. We saw other people with large buckets of cherries.
Sadly, we didn't see any of the train travellers purchase anything from them. We considered buying something until we realized how close we were to Chernobyl.
The man in the brown jacket, in particular, tugged at my heartstrings. He seemed to feel it was a waste of his time to be there, but perhaps his wife insisted he bring his cured fish to the train.
